Parents and children can bond over a session of Lego playing. As young children may need some help matching and inserting the shaped blocks, the parent can help and the child can observe and learn from their parent. The child’s patience will be short inevitably, but this is only initially. Once the child begins to develop an awareness of the colours and shapes of the blocks, they’ll soon develop a much larger concentration span. Soon the child shall be building towers before you know it!
Playing with Lego is also a great opportunity to teach children clean up games. After the child has finished playing with their Lego ninjago, encourage them to clean it all up and put it back where it belongs. Cleaning up need not be a chore for your child, but can be made an exciting activity for which they are rewarded afterwards. For example, a parent could ask their child to first clear up all the red blocks, then move onto the blue blocks, and so forth. The child will take great pride in getting the colours right and you as a parent will be saved cleaning up, win win!
